About me

My name is Zoë Jade and in addition to being the mother of a daughter (4) and a son (1), I have delved into the field of preconception, pregnancy, birth, freebirth, postpartum and breastfeeding over the past 10 years.

I studied midwifery in Amsterdam for 4 years, assisted more than 50 women during their birth and guided hundreds of women during their pregnancy and postpartum period.

I have followed many other trainings, courses and workshops. "Orgasmic Birth" and "Watsu for pregnancy" were my absolute highlights.

I also graduated as a "Trauma Informed Perinatal Professional" with Billie Harrigan in Canada last year. I learned everything about the origins of Trauma within maternity care, how trauma affects your body and life, healing strategies and how you can guide (pregnant) women who have had a traumatic (birth) experience.

During my midwifery studies I was part of - and witnessed - a lot of obstetric violence. I have discovered that if I want to guide women with true respect for their autonomy, body and baby, I can only do this óutside of the patriarchal care system.

I was able to experience what it is like to become a mother, to give birth, to have a miscarriage and to breastfeed longterm. During my first pregnancy, I left the midwifery practice where I was being cared for the day before I gave birth. A day later, our daughter was born easy and soft in my own hands, embraced in warm water in our cozy house in the dunes.

When we were pregnant with our son, we chose to allow the pregnancy and birth to unfold completely free from healthcare providers and monitoring. After this wild pregnancy, our son was born powerful and free in our intimate birth bubble in just over an hour.

Both of our children had lotus births, which means we left their umbilical cords intact. We treated the placenta with salt and herbs and carried the placenta in a soft bag with our children. About 3 days after birth, they released their own umbilical cord. It felt very nice to handle their placenta so lovingly and it contributed to a gentle landing outside the womb.

I am currently writing a book about how I transformed from a disconnected good girl into an intuitive powerful mother. I reclaimed my power by awakening my intuition.

In my work as a Birthkeeper I support families in a gentle and wise woman way as well as with respect for the integrity of the sacred space of pregnancy and birth.
